presidential election after a 22-year-rule, but recanted a week later, has sent a warning to President Buhari of Nigeria to either remain in his country to solve the myriad of problems plaguing Nigeria or be prepared to suffer humiliation in the Gambia for what he described as 'regional campaign against me to step aside''
Recall, his decision not to accept the result has drawn condemnation worldwide including from the UN, ECOWAS, and the U.S., the recent one being the UN Security which set January 19 for him as a terminal date.
A source close to the Gambian seat of power revealed that the embattled Gambian leader has warned Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari to steer clear and stop forthwith his regional campaign against him seeing that he has little or no knowledge of what actually transpired in the just concluded presidential election in the  Gambia.
The fiery leader of the tiny West African state had earlier warned that he would not be intimidated by any power and reminded the West African mediators that it was Gambia's internal problems and asked them to steer clear.
Recall, the West African regional bloc, ECOWAS, had called on him to honour his initial pledge to accept electoral defeat and the leaders are not expected to reveal the details of the of the mediation until all talks are concluded.
However, observers believe apart from asking Mr. Jammeh to leave office, the West African leaders are also trying to save him and his loyalists from prosecution after leaving office.
ECOWAS had said military intervention might be a possibility if diplomatic efforts failed to persuade Mr. Jammeh to leave office. Reacting to the threat of a possible military action, Jammeh said Nigeria's Buhari runs the risk of being disgraced in the Gambia if he does not stop the regional military campaign against his country.
Mr. Jammeh has launched a court action to annul the vote after the electoral commission changed some results. However, Jammeh had in a 45-minute speech at the African Bar Association on Tuesday night, defended his position, saying West African leaders had violated the ECOWAS principle of non-interference.
According to President Jammeh, “Who are they to tell me to leave my country, who made Buhari a judge to mediate and interfere in Gambia's internal affairs? Has he settled the killings and unrests in his country before coming here to teach us how to suck eggs''?
“I will not be intimidated by him nor by any of the so-called mediators. I want to make sure justice is done.'', he retorted

“I’m a man of peace, but I cannot also be a coward. I am a man of peace but that does not also mean that I will not defend myself and defend my country and defend my country courageously, patriotically and win.”
